Wedding Flower Great Wedding Ring Ideas – Nut and Bolt Weddding Ring

January 11th, 2008

Kiley Granberg, Art Jeweler and Fine Artist from Alberta, Canada, came up with a great wedding ring “Nut and Bolt” idea.  The ring is pretty plain and simple, but the concept is wonderful.  I’d love to see this concept in a white gold with some details on the band.

Wedding Flower Got Married and Then Found Out They Were Twins!

January 11th, 2008

Here’s a article for a little friday afternoon entertainment. A British couple who recently married, found out that they are biological twins separated and put up for adoption at birth.  After finding out this news, their marriage was annulled after a High Court hearing.  There are no details regarding how they eventually found out about their biological connection.  Professor Lord Alton, the individual who has been handling this case, stated that this brings up a greater adoption issue of children having the right to know their identity.

Wedding Flower Why Do We Wear Rings on Our Left Ring Finger?

January 3rd, 2008

Ever wonder why we wear rings on our “ring finger”? Or better yet, why our ring finger is a ring finger. There are many explanations for the choice of the fourth digit on the hand to be the ring finger, one explanation is that a vein runs from the fourth digit on the left hand straight to the heart, and therefore a perfect symbolism for placing the ring on the fourth digital. Another example, that I really loves, comes from a Japanese or Chinese excerpt (I’ve heard Japanese some places and Chinese in other places.. Not completely sure of the origin). As the story goes, the ring fingers will never separate when placed together, thus symbolizing eternal love. Here’s how to try it out yourself, taken from pearl from the Yahoo! Answers blog.

Ring Finger Wedding Marrage 4th Digit

” Please follow the steps below. (this is from a Chinese excerpt)

Firstly, with center fingers bent, of both the palms, put them together back to back The rest of the 4 fingers, join them tip to tip. Try to open your thumb, the thumb represent parents. It can be opened, because all humans go thru sickness and death. Our parents will leave us one day. Now close your thumbs, then open your second finger, the finger represent brothers and sisters, they do have their own family which is why they will leave us too
Now close your second fingers, open up your little fingers, this represent your children. Sooner or later they too will leave us for they have got they own lives to live. Nevertheless, close your little fingers, & try to open your fourth fingers, on which we put our wedding ring; you will be surprised to find that it cannot be opened at all. Because it represent husband and wife, this whole life you will be attach to each other:

Real love will stick together forever and ever

Thumb represents parents
Second finger represent brothers & sisters
Centre finger represent your self
Fourth finger represent your partner
Last finger represent your children”

Wedding Flower What to give for a Wedding? How Much Money? Wedding Gift Ideas

January 3rd, 2008

So you’re going to a wedding, but you’re not sure what to give. The best place to start is the obvious, the wedding registry. Often times a notecard will be included in a wedding shower invitation and sometimes even a wedding invitation – however it’s not the norm. If you are unaware of where the bride and groom may be registered, ask the parents if they are currently registered anywhere. If they are, see what’s left on the list that fall into your budget.

But what if the Bride and Groom didn’t register, or are no longer registered – they closed out their registry, what to buy? Often times, the expense of a wedding, combined with the expenses of starting a new life together – a place to live, furniture, kitchenware, etc. – can leave newlyweds in need of some cash. So, why not give the couple the most universal gift that will allow them to buy or pay for what is most needed? Cash is King.

After making the decision that you will give a cash gift to the Bride and Groom, the next question is, “How Much Money Should I Give as a Wedding Gift?”. This is often a tough calculation to make, all dependent upon geographic region, location of wedding venue / cost per person and closeness to the Bride and Groom. It is rude to ask the Bride and Groom the cost per head, so don’t even bother… With time, you’ll get a better feel for wedding expenses, but until you ask around or have your own wedding, you won’t know for sure. So, why not start by asking around, get an idea of what weddings cost per person in your area, let’s just say, $100 per person. If you’re going with a guest and can afford it, give $200 for a casual friend and maybe $300 for a close friend. If weddings cost $300 per person, and you’re going with a guest, most likely you can’t afford to shell out $600 for the night. Having said this, most Bride and Grooms don’t expect this, and if they’re spending that kind of money on a wedding, they can afford it. So don’t try to match numbers, give what you can comfortably give and maybe supplement or replace the gift with something from the heart. If you’re an artist, who won’t love a nice portrait for their new home?

Wedding Flower How to Plan a Best Man Speech for a Wedding

January 2nd, 2008

It’s an honor to be the best man for a wedding. But shortly after that honor comes the panic of what to say and how to handle the large crowd. Most of us are not comfortable with speaking in public. However, the more prepared you are, the more comfortable you will be on the wedding day. Here are some pointers in preparing a speech for the bride and groom.

Best Man Speech Microphone

  • Don’t get too overwhelmed with structure and etiquette when planning your speech. The more you focus on form, the less you’re going to focus on the message.
  • Speak from the heart, let the audience know how you feel about the Bride and Groom and let them see the Bride and Groom as you see them from your eyes.
  • Tell stories that portray your perspective of the newlyweds and reenforce your message after you complete the story. So for instance, if you’re telling a story about how dedicated your best friend Tommy is, tell the story that emphasizes his dedication and follow up the story by stating the characteristic of dedication that Tommy possess – Ex. “This is just one story that exemplifies Tommy’s dedication to his [wife? work? passion? desire? you fill it in]“

Wedding Flower Planning a Candy Bar Candy Wedding Favor? Some Places to Shop

December 27th, 2007

If you’re looking for a unique wedding favor idea, a Candy Bar is a great and elegant way to give candy wedding favors to your guests. A number of Wedding Reception Halls will provide all of the candy for somewhere around $4.00 a head. However, if you do not plan on having just chocolate wedding favors, which are typically more expensive than gummies and jellies (gummy bears, gummy worms, jelly beans, etc), you typically can provide all of the candy yourself for half the price. For instance, you can get 30 pounds of Gummy Peaches for just $83.00, 5 pounds for $16.00, 20 pounds of Gummi Sour Neon Worms for $43.00, 5 pounds of Strawberry Pin Wheels for just $16.00.

A great site to find candy is BulkFoods.com.  Check them out for some great deals.

Wedding Flower Brubaker’s First Crazy Wedding Dance – I Like Big Butts

December 27th, 2007

Not quite sure why the Brubaker’s first wedding dance was such a hit, while other great wedding dances including the Surprise Breakdance and the Jack Johnson Michael Jackson Surprise First Wedding Dance didn’t even make a splash. But it is what it is, and John Brubaker and Michelle Brubaker have made the spotlight on such shows as the Today Show.  Check out their first dance video.
