Great Wedding Ring Ideas – Nut and Bolt Weddding Ring

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Kiley Granberg, Art Jeweler and Fine Artist from Alberta, Canada, came up with a great wedding ring “Nut and Bolt” idea.  The ring is pretty plain and simple, but the concept is wonderful.  I’d love to see this concept in a white gold with some details on the band.

Why Do We Wear Rings on Our Left Ring Finger?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Ever wonder why we wear rings on our “ring finger”? Or better yet, why our ring finger is a ring finger. There are many explanations for the choice of the fourth digit on the hand to be the ring finger, one explanation is that a vein runs from the fourth digit on the left hand straight to the heart, and therefore a perfect symbolism for placing the ring on the fourth digital. Another example, that I really loves, comes from a Japanese or Chinese excerpt (I’ve heard Japanese some places and Chinese in other places.. Not completely sure of the origin). As the story goes, the ring fingers will never separate when placed together, thus symbolizing eternal love. Here’s how to try it out yourself, taken from pearl from the Yahoo! Answers blog.

Ring Finger Wedding Marrage 4th Digit

” Please follow the steps below. (this is from a Chinese excerpt)

Firstly, with center fingers bent, of both the palms, put them together back to back The rest of the 4 fingers, join them tip to tip. Try to open your thumb, the thumb represent parents. It can be opened, because all humans go thru sickness and death. Our parents will leave us one day. Now close your thumbs, then open your second finger, the finger represent brothers and sisters, they do have their own family which is why they will leave us too
Now close your second fingers, open up your little fingers, this represent your children. Sooner or later they too will leave us for they have got they own lives to live. Nevertheless, close your little fingers, & try to open your fourth fingers, on which we put our wedding ring; you will be surprised to find that it cannot be opened at all. Because it represent husband and wife, this whole life you will be attach to each other:

Real love will stick together forever and ever

Thumb represents parents
Second finger represent brothers & sisters
Centre finger represent your self
Fourth finger represent your partner
Last finger represent your children”
